Your Move Checklist, Before You Set a Tour Date
By Nicky Stojanovic · August 25, 2026

Relocation deserves the same discipline you'd bring to any major purchase, and a little preparation makes even a short visit meaningfully more useful.
Start by defining your baseline: the total monthly cost you can comfortably carry, the cash you want to preserve, and the date you hope to move. From there, rank your priorities. Choose three nonnegotiables and two compromises you're genuinely willing to accept, and decide honestly whether coast, space, convenience, or amenities leads your decision.
Before the visit itself, confirm financing or proof of funds, share your travel window clearly, and book time for a real mix of neighborhoods and property types rather than seeing only one type of home. A shortlist built this way, and a visit tracked under an actual contract timeline once you're ready, moves from browsing to buying far more smoothly.
